Walking the Maze

#iDareToWalkTheMaze

Many people in life will do anything for an easy ride,

If there is any disturbance in the water, they are guaranteed to want to swim to the side.

But I have learnt in the past couple of years that things will not always go your way,

Your easy going happiness will often be with you but will not always decide to stay.

From each day, week or month you will not always understand what you are feeling,

And that especially happens if you are like me and your heart and mind are healing.

I would say that before 2018 I went through the normal teenage bumpy ride,

I was extremely insecure but had my parents support and my nana right by my side.

I could keep afloat but then I lost nana and my person in life was gone,

It made my self confidence and future seem bleak and I didn’t know where I was going or where I was coming from.

Sometimes I could keep walking forwards and I felt secure and content and other times I felt I would be pushed off the edge,

But I have learnt that you have to dare to live without those you’ve lost, take the memories with you and jump right over the hedge.

At the beginning of this year I started counselling for my grief and everything I had kept hidden came straight out,

I didn’t realise that I hadn’t accepted her death and all my thoughts began to shout.

My busy brain hit a standstill and I was temporarily unable to carry on with my life,

But I stuck through it and I dared to be strong until I overcame the strife.

And when I lost Grampy in May it was another blow, but I knew how to cope with my grief,

I dare to carry on through sadness no matter how prolonged or brief.

No matter what anyone goes through in life they should know there will be light at the end,

Their heart may not always be whole but will eventually be able to mend.

My life will not always be smooth sailing and there will be good and bad days,

But throughout every challenge that I face
