My Life In Lockdown

#iDareToSurvive

Hello everyone!! I hope you all are keeping well. Today's blog is going to be about being in 12 weeks isolation and how its affecting my lifestyle.

A bit about myself?
My name is Jordan O'Brien, I'm 27 years old and I was born with serious health conditions. One of my health conditions is Chronic lung disease. I live with my mum, step dad and two of my brothers. With this Virus going around called COVID 19 I have been told by the Government to self isolate myself because I'm in the health risk category.

My health issues?
The health issues I live with are Chronic lung disease which means my lungs are very weak and are always at risk of developing serious chest infections or fluid. My other health conditions are paralysis left vocal cord, no swallow reflex, cerebral palsy and brittle bone disease. The reason I'm in the high risk category and been told to isolate for 12 weeks is because of my chronic lungs. COVID 19 is a serious virus which attacks the lungs and makes them very wet and and that develops in to pneumonia which inflames the lungs and makes you seriously ill. My lungs are already in very bad condition now so thats why I have to be very careful with public distancing.

My isolation?
I've been isolating so far In my room 24/7 away from my family because they go out to work, my mum works on the till so she interacts with the public, my step dad works in office environment, my brothers are engineers so they get deliveries from different companies. They are all worried and scared about catching the virus and giving it to me. they might not even know they have it because most people show minor symptoms. That's why I have to keep my distance from my family, which is very upsetting . I love my family so much. I can't even give my mum a hug

What has it been like?
It's been a difficult time being isolated in my room and shut away from my family Don't get me wrong, I have loads of stuff to keep me entertained like my Smart TV, PS4, IPad, Amazon prime, netflix and my Nintendo switch but I just miss the outside world like everyone else does. I just can't wait for everything to get back to normal. I miss going to volunteering and interacting with the customers and my lovely co workers, I miss going to watch football with my step dad and step brother. I can't wait when I can do all of that again. But the first thing I'm going to do when this is all over is to give my mum a big hug and tell her I love her.

My advice?
Well my advice to everyone who is isolating for 12 weeks is to keep positive, chat to people online (facetime) and keep your mind occupied. We will get through this. we just all have to be strong.
The world is going through a tough time but all we have to do is stick together, be there for each other, keep your hands clean and most importantly Stay At Home .

P.S I just wanted to say a massive thank you to all the NHS Workers out there. You are the heroes of today
