#iDare to help others

Tyler Ody, aged 20, interviews Jaqui Barnes Monoghan...

Jaqui works for the Swindon Borough Council in supported employment where she works with people with additional needs and is also a volunteer with the #iDare magazine. Jaqui works for Building Bridges, a programme that supports people who face challenges in being able to develop their skills, access education or move towards the world of work. Taking part in the programme is entirely voluntary and all of our advice and support is offered free of charge.

Why did you want to become an employment coordinator?

I wanted a new job but wanted to stay in health and social care. I saw the job being advertised and I knew what they do as they helped my granddaughter who has autism.

How long have you worked in health and social care?

I have worked in health and social care for 27 years which I started as care assistant which then progressed into managing roles in supported housing and currently works for Building Bridges with Swindon Borough Council .

What is the best/worst bit about your job?

The best bit is when I work with someone and start to see them to become confident. The people that I work with pass a course and get a job. The worst bit is the admin as I do not like sitting at the desk and it is very difficult for me.

Jaqui really enjoys working with people of all ages and is passionate about her work within the community for more information on Building Bridges please go to their website: www.buildingbridgessw.org.uk
